The sleuth s of the City’s Crime Branch raided two illegal discotheques and arrested eight persons on Monday.
In the first incident, the police raided Lounge 579 in HBR Layout on Kammanahalli main road, as the discotheque was being run without valid license.
Its manager Rajesh, 25, of Lingarajapuram, disc jockey Charles, 24, of K S Layout, bouncers Dinesh, 28, of Chamrajpet, Aiyappa, 24, of Domlur Layout and Nanda, 27, of Cox Town were arrested.
The police are on the lookout for the bar and restaurant’s owner Praveen Kumar and K C Ravikumar.
In the second case, the police raided Oxygen bar and pub on Brigade Road, where illegal discotheque was allegedly being run. Its owner Y R Shyamraj, 52, of J P Nagar, cashier Siddaguru, 30, of Yashwantapur and M Giri, 27, of Viveknagar where arrested.
Woman Murdered A 55-year-old woman was allegedly murdered by her son-in-law over a trivial issue at his house in Kamalanagar.
The victim has been identified as Shivarudramma, a helper at a hotel and the accused has been identified as Satish, 22, a tempo driver. He has been arrested, the police said. According to the police, the incident came to light around 9 pm when she succumbed due to severe head injuries in a private hospital. She was pushed by Satish after an argument. Satish’s wife Nagamma after noticing her mother lying on the floor immediately shifted her to a private hospital, the police said.
5 Held, Booty Seized
The Subramanyapura police have arrested five persons for their allegedly involvement in highway dacoity cases. Goods worth `61 lakh have been recovered from them.
The accused have been identified as Christy alias Christy Mike, 28, Krishna alias Jyothi Krishna alias Chinboda, 20, Suresh, 24, Ravi, 20, and Sharath 19. All are natives of Mogaralli village in Srirangapatna.
The police said that the accused had allegedly hatched a plan to waylay a lorry with iron loads near Gubbalala Gate on Kanakapura Main Road. Based on a tip off, the police swung into action and arrested five persons who were in a car.
