Bangalore: There was utter chaos at the Bangalore airport after a Kingfisher plane had an accident due to a stray dog being in the runway.
The Kingfisher flight headed for Hyderabad hit the dog on the runway seconds before take off.
The impact caused the nose landing gear to collapse and the 25 passengers on board were evacuated urgently. Two passengers sustained minor injuries in the confusion.
“Due to jumping from five to six feet our legs have been swollen a bit that it all,” says a passenger Ramesh
Police and airport personnel tried to bring the situation under control, and yet, the chaos was evident. The passengers were even not informed of delays or detours.
“My flight was for 9:25 am and they delayed it by 9:50 am. We were inside and suddenly we had to come out. We are full privileged members,” says Jet Airways passenger, Mahen.
The airline blamed the stray dog menace at airports and the dim lighting on the runway.
“It is most unfortunate that the dog menace at airports in India still persists and that an incident occurred today in Bangalore,” said CEO Kingfisher, Vijay Mallya.
The airline has announced an investigation into how the accident occurred.
