Hyderabad: Two students were killed on Wednesday and two others got injured when the rifle of a policeman went off accidentally during a weapon demonstration in Khammam district of Andhra Pradesh.
As part of the police commemoration week that began on October 15, police personnel were giving a demonstration of communication equipment and weapons to students at Velairpadu village in the district, when the incident occurred, police said.
The policeman was giving a demo on loading and unloading the weapon, when it went off by mistake, killing a tenth and eight standard students, who were identified as Venkatkrishna and Saibaba respectively, they said.
Two other students have been injured in the incident and were admitted to a government hospital at Khammam, police said adding that the condition of one of them is critical.
