20 foetuses recovered from near Bangalore

New Delhi: First it was Orissa and now, Karnataka has been shocked by a mass recovery of aborted foetuses.

Skeletal remains of over 20 foetuses, suspected to be female, were found in a dumpyard in the Srirampuram police limits on Sunday evening.

Stuffed in gunny bags, the remains were recovered from near Rajiv Gandhi statue in the Jakkarayanakere area.

The gunny bags also contained hospital wastes like syringes and used bottles.

Shockingly, the state police tried to hush up the matter and the incident came to light only when some ragpickers raised an alarm and a group pf people reported the matter to the Nation Commission for Women.

Police are examining if the bags were brought from outside the city. The foetal remains have been sent to Bangalore’s Victoria Hospital for sex determination tests.
