2008 Bangalore blasts: Jailed PDP leader Madani shifted to Manipal hospital

Bangalore: Jailed Kerala-based PDP leader Abdul Nasser Madani, admitted to a private hospital recently for treatment of diabetes, was shifted to a multi-speciality hospital in Bangalore in the wee hours on Saturday after he complained of giddiness. Madani, arrested in connection with the 2008 serial bomb blasts in Bangalore, was shifted from Soukhya Hospital to the Manipal Hospital at around 2 am after he complained of tiredness and giddiness, Medical Advisory Board of Manipal Hospitals (MHS) Chairman Dr Sudarshan Ballal said.

His condition was "quite stable" and doctors were examining him, Ballal said. Madani, lodged in the Central Prison in Bangalore since his arrest in August, 2010, was admitted to Soukhya Hospital on January 7 for treatment of diabetes and related eye complication.

The Karnataka High Court, while rejecting his bail plea, had in November in 2012 permitted him to avail treatment in a hospital of his choice under police escort. Madani is among 31 persons chargesheeted in the case relating to the July 2008 bomb blasts in which one person was killed and 20 others were injured.

PDP leader Abdul Nasser Madani was arrested in August, 2010 in connection with the 2008 serial bomb blasts in Bangalore.
