The 2016 edition of the Olympics has four front runners for the host status - Chicago, Madrid, Tokyo and Rio de Janeiro and they are trying to secure the valuable votes they need to host the Games.
This week it was the turn if African nations to be wooed for their votes in the fifth and final pitch by the contenders.
The African votes are very important as the no country from the continent is in contention/
"The city of Tokyo is very sound and healthy, and the city of Tokyo has already $4 billion set aside for use for the 2016 Tokyo Olympic Games," claimed Tsunekazu Takeda, President Japan Olympics Committee.
Those cities that don't have the budget ready for the games used other methods to woo the African vote.
Brazil had football legend Pele leading Rio de Janeiro's campaign to host the Games for the first time.
"We have had Olympics all over the world, in Europe, several times, in the United States several items, in Asia, we have in Central America, Mexico. Only in South America we have not had an Olympics. So it is time to give us the chance, that is why we are confident," said Pele
Chicago went one better with American President Barack Obama's speech, part of the 15-minute long presentation made by the city, certainly had a few taking notice.
But even as the cities tried to woo voters, there was also a word of advice for the nation that does ultimately get to host the games from one that is getting set for one.
"It is very important that Olympic cities now and in the future do not leave "white elephants" behind. Our communities are much more sophisticated, they want to know not just that they are going to have sixteen days of Olympics and Para -Olympics sport," said Sebastian Coe, Chairman of the Organising Committee for 2012 London Olympics.
The final presentations and the official voting for the ultimate decision will take place in Copenhagen on October 2.
