Mumbai: Mumbai attacker Mohammad Ajmal Amir Kasab is an adult, doctors have told the special court set up at the Arthur Road Jail.

The doctors told Special Judge ML Tahiliyani that Kasab is more than 20 years old adding that they arrived at the age of the Pakistani terrorist after conducting forensic dental analysis, ossification test and X rays.

They submitted their findings to the court on Tuesday afternoon and the court is likely to give its verdict on Wednesday.

The team that examined Kasab included four doctors of JJ hospital.

"Doctors have said that Kasab's age is above 20 years. We have also examined two witnesses and now the verdict will be given tomorrow. A team of four doctors conducted the medical examination of Kasab," said Public Prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam.

However, Kasab's lawyer Abbas Kazmi sounded hopeful pointing out the medical examination could have a margin of error.

"Here is margin of error is very short. We will have to see previous judgement and take medical experts opinion that what is the margin of error in such medical reports," said Kazmi.

The court had ordered an investigation to determine Kasab's true age on April 24 after the defence lawyer claimed that Kasab was just 17 years old at the time of the 26/11 attack, and should therefore be tried in a juvenile court.

Judge Tahiliyani had asked for a report on Kasab's age by April 28.

Kasab's lawyer had offered to travel to Pakistan to verify his age. But the court asked a team of doctors to do the investigation through medical tests.

The age of Kasab would have a direct bearing on the verdict as if it had been established that Kasab was indeed a minor at the time of attack, the maximum sentence the terrorist would have faced is just three years in jail.
