New Delhi: Holi is around the corner and Holi celebrations at the Bachchan residence are legendary in Bollywood, but the Big B won't be celebrating the festival of colours this year.
It's the tragedy of 26/11 that is keeping Big B away from any kind of indulgence.
As he puts in his blog: "That joyous spirit has been dampened by the atrocities that our city faced on 26/11. In its wake somewhere inside us there is a reluctance to involve ourselves in any kind of exhibition".
But this isn't the first time that the Bachchans will not be celebrating Holi. In the past few years, the death of Amitabh's parents Harivansh Rai and Teji Bachchan have kept the family from throwing their famous Holi party at their residence.
"It was one festival that we enjoyed liberally. The gates of the house open to all and the celebrations lasting till late in the evening from the morning. We have not done that for several years," Amitabh Bachchan writes further in his blog.
But while Big B may not be participating in festivities, he is not taking a break from work.
He writes: "Professional work is understandable, but private excesses do not find favor in our hearts. And so shall we respect that".
Hopefully the next Holi will mark the big comeback of the festival of colours at the Bachchan household.
