New Delhi: Adding more pressure on the Prime Minister's Office over the 2G Spectrum Scam, a new report of Parliament's Public Accounts Committee (PAC) is being circulated by Chairman Murli Manohar Joshi. It questions the roles of not just the Prime Minister but also the then finance minister P Chidambaram.
Though the new report is a technicality necessitated by former PAC member Jayanthi Natarajan becoming a Union Minister, its timing is still embarrassing for the Congress which has been facing flak over the CWG scam.
The PAC had not accepted the draft report put out by Joshi earlier, with majority of the members rejecting it.
But the Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission Montek Singh Ahluwalia has strongly defended the Prime Minister. Talking to CNN-IBN, he said the government runs on the principle of delegation of powers and therefore, the Prime Minister cannot be expected to follow Raja's every move.
Congress leader Sanjay Nirupam also slammed Joshi accusing him of playing politics. "The new report deserves to be dumped. Murli Manohar Joshi is playing politics," Nirupam said.
