New Delhi: Janata Party President Subramanian Swamy welcomed the arrest of former telecom minister A Raja along with his two former associates in connection with the 2G spectrum scam.
"Yes he had to be arrested before February 5 as my criminal case is coming and my application for issuing a warrant was there. After all my petition has been held now by the judge," said Swamy.
"Whether it is Parliament or my court case on February 5th in Tis Hazari, doesn't matter. The law has begun to operate and we have to thank Supreme Court for that," he said.
When asked if the arrest was preemptive, Swamy remarked, "Absolutely! If not done so in the next hearing in Supreme Court - where the Supreme Court is monitoring the case - they would have got a rebuke. At the same time, they would have had the problem of facing arrest warrant issued on my complaint which means that I would be in control."
