3 CAG reports in Parliament today, Government set to face fire

CNN-IBN | Updated Aug 17, 2012 at 09:11am IST

New Delhi: CAG reports on the privatisation of the Delhi airport, ultra mega power projects and coal block allocations are likely to be tabled in Parliament on Friday.

CNN-IBN has accessed the final draft of the CAG report on coal block allocations which pegs the loss to the exchequer at Rs 1.86 lakh crore, making it even bigger than the 2G scam loss.

The report also raises questions on the Prime Minister, who allegedly allotted 44 billion tonnes of coal at throwaway prices during his stint as a Coal Minister.

Meanwhile, the CAG report on power accuses the government of favouritism and benefiting companies like Tata and Reliance Power.

The CAG report on privatisation of Delhi airport questions the role of the then Civil Aviation minister, Praful Patel for favouring GMR that received undue benefits worth Rs 3,400 crore.

The government could find itself powerless in the face of an opposition attack over the potentially damaging CAG report.
