Los Angeles: The awards season may be over but some of this year's big nominees continue to make their way to the red carpet.
Monday night in Hollywood, Oscar contender Djimon Hounsou and Golden Globe nominee Aaron Eckhart were among attendees at the premiere of 300, a lavish screen adaptation of cult legend Frank Miller's graphic novel.
The film recreates the Battle of Thermopylae, where the King of Sparta led his army in an against-all-odds fight with the advancing Persian force.
"Adrenaline, testosterone – it has all of that. But it's also beautiful and emotional,” says actor Gerald Butler.
The film also brought along a role reversal for the female lead with men strutting around in barely dressed men.
“It got a little boring, honestly after the first week. No, it was fabulous but they had no shame. They showed off quite rightly,” actor Leena Heady says.
So, by the looks of it 300 could just go on to be a contemporary cult classic like Frank Miller's Sin City.
