New Delhi: In Malaysia, five more ethnic Indians have been charged with attempted murder of policemen, taking the total to 31.
This is the harshest possible charge in connection with an injury to a policeman.
If convicted, they could face up to 20 years in jail. The court today refused to dismiss the charges, rejecting the defence's argument that they were racially and politically motivated.
The 31 ethnic Indians, aged between 18 and 45, have been detained at police headquarters for the night and bail submissions will be heard tomorrow.
