Click to play videoMumbai: Police have picked up three women in Mumbai on suspicion that one of them could be the mother who abandoned her three-day-old baby in a garbage dump.
About 10 days ago a local milkman had found a newborn with 26 stab wounds and reported it to the police.
The baby was brought to Nayar Hospital for treatment and has been there ever since.
He is fit to be discharged now. The doctors at the hospital have named him Mrityunjay -- the conqueror of death.
The baby's mother, Manisha Saroj in her defence, "We are very poor. I don't have money to feed him and so had to take this extreme step."
