Click to play videoMumbai: A few days after a child died in Mira Road in Mumbai by falling into an open manhole, another three-year-old child Ayub has fallen into an open manhole in Mumbai’s Mankhurd area on Sunday night.
Rescue operations are on since Sunday night but the boy has yet not been traced.
Ayub’s grandmother, who was the sole witness of the incident, had reportedly informed the BMC officials but locals allege they didn’t believe her and therefore the rescue operation started quite late.
To add to the family’s despair, Ayub’s grandfather also died after he heard the news.
While the BMC officials say night time proved to be an impediment to the rescue operations, residents say they have been complaining about open manholes for quite sometime now but the authorities have been negligent about it.
