New Delhi: A shattered childless couple, Subhash and Pushpa, await outside Delhi’s Sanjay Gandhi Hospital for the post mortem report of their three-year-old nephew Vivek, who was killed after a 12-year-old boy rammed a car into him.
Vivek was returning home with Subhash and Pushpa after attending Janmashtami celebrations when he was mowed down by a Toyota Qualis in the Paschim Vihar area of West Delhi. Pushpa was also injured in the accident.
“A 12-year-old was driving and the driver was sitting beside him. I saw the car run over my nephew and wife. My nephew died on the spot,” a shell-shocked Subhash said.
Meanwhile, Dr Manoj Dhingra at the Sanjay Gandhi Hospital explained that “the cause of death was hemorrhagic shock and laceration of liver and stomach.”
Twelve-year-old Pawan, who was driving the car, was accompanied by the family driver, Deepak, when the accident took place.
Pawan has been booked for causing death due to rash and negligent driving and is presently out on bail. However, eyewitnesses say that his parents are to blame.
“Parents allow their underage children to drive and put the lives of others at risk. It is very wrong,” an eyewitness of the accident, Satish said.
The incident has left Subhash and Pushpa shattered. They had brought Vivek to live with them just three months back but now Vivek's body will be taken back to his parents in Madhya Pradesh's Bhind district.
