Bank robbers arrested in South Delhi

New Delhi: Delhi Police have arrested four bank robbers from the Green Park area of South Delhi after an encounter on Monday afternoon.

Two police teams from Lodhi Road police station engaged the robbers in a gunbattle in South Delhi after getting information that a group of 10 criminals were in the area planning to rob a bank.

The four robbers arrested have been identified as Satya Prakash, Shakeel, Sonu and Nadeem. Nadeem is Uzbekistan national. They have been admitted to AIIMS as all of them have been injured during the shootout.

The gang was led by Satya Prakash, an alleged gangster based in Uttar Pradesh.

The other group of six robbers managed to escape in a white Santro car with number plate -1144.

"We were informed that they were planning a bank robbery. We informed our team to intercept them. Our special team was working on this operation for some time. Satte (Satya Prakash) is a known gangster with numerous criminal cases against him including bank robberies. We had information that they had sophisticated weapons," said Deputy Commissioner of Police, South Delhi, HGS Dhaliwal.

"Our special team was led by Inspector Jindal Singh and Karnail Singh. Satte is a well known criminal with 20-25 case against him," said Dhaliwal.
