Gurgaon: The death of 25-year-old Tapasya Choudhary has taken a new turn with her four-year-old son saying his father killed his mother.
The child, Bite1 says, "Mummy ko mar kar faansi pe chadha diya papa ne. (My father killed my mother and then hung her on a noose)"
While Bitel may be the sole witness to the murder of his mother, the police say they can't fully rely on his statement. But what is interesting is that they have gone ahead and registered a case of dowry death.
If it wasn't for the four-year-old boy's statement, the police would have written off the case as suicide, but the fact that they registered a case under 304B of the IPC indicates that there's more to the incident than meets the eye and the case can't be closed just yet.
Joint Commissioner of Police Gurgaon, MS Ahlawat says, "We are now awaiting the post mortem report after which we will take necessary action. Nothing can be ruled out at this stage."
Married for almost five years to telecom executive Rajeev Choudhary, Tapasya was apparently unhappy with repeated demands for dowry by her inlaws.
Her brother, Lalit says, "Her sister-in-laws would say you barely brought any money with you, but the truth is that we gave almost Rs 12 lakh in dowry."
The case now hinges on the post mortem report where the police will be on the lookout for injury marks on the body. Meanwhile the police have detained Rajeev Chowdhary and are questioning him.
