New Delhi: At least five people have been seriously injured when a bomb exploded at Paltanbazar area in the heart of Guwahati city on Friday.
Several vehicles parked in the area were also damaged. The bomb was believed to be planted in a parked motorcycle in the parking space beside the busy road.
Police say it was an IED and suspect the handiwork of ULFA militants.
The police is relating the blast to Army Day which is on Saturday. Every year around Army Day such attacks take place wherever ULFA has a stronghold.
Security has been beefed up as many people have been injured in the blast, but so far no information of anyone dying.
