But why are they called The Grasshoppers? And pat comes the reply from the group's lead singer, Kartik Prasad, "Because we love bugging people".
While the bug has bitten them early, what is more interesting is the fact that all the five children study in different schools and come from different parts of Kolkata. So, music truly binds them together.
"We were inspired and it feels nice to be the youngest group," guitarist, Ranadeep Bose says.
Seventeen-year-old Kahini Punjabi is the drummer and she is the only female member of the rock group. "It doesn't really matter. I just like playing it," Kahini says.
The Grasshoppers have performed only once in public till now but they plan to work hard and make it big. Maybe even bring out their own album someday.
"As the grass grows old so does The Grasshopper. While we are on fresh grass right now, we would like to grow with it too," guitarist, Tanay Kishore said.
But for now they still have their feet firmly on the ground and their age could be the main hindrance to the growth of the rock group.
Higher studies and career opportunities beyond Kolkata, all these major decisions lie ahead and they could spell a short-life span for The Grasshoppers. But as they say those who wish to sing always find a song.
