BHADRAK: Six police personnel of Bhadrak district were on Tuesday suspended by Eastern range DIG Sanjay Kumar for dereliction of duty. The action was taken following the escape of two under-trial prisoners (UTPs) of Bhadrak Special Sub-Jail on Monday.
Bhadrak DSP KK Dangayat said 12 UTPs, including a woman, were being taken back from Chandbali Fast Track Court to Bhadrak special sub-jail on Monday when two UTPs managed to escape at Tihidi Bazaar where the vehicle had halted for drinking water.
The escaped UTPs are Satyabrata Mishra and Satyabrata Nayak of Chasakanda village under Chandbali police limits. They have been lodged in the sub-jail for the last four months.
However, Bhadrak police managed to nab the two escaped UTPs from Motto on Tuesday morning while they were attempting to flee to Kendrapara through river route, the DSP, Dangayat, added.
