7 persons killed on J&K highway

Jammu: Seven people died in a road accident at Panthal on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway on Tuesday. The accident happened following a landslide on the Highway.

Seven persons travelling in a Tata Sumo were thrown off when the vehicle skidded off the road and rolled down into a gorge at Panthyal on Jammu-Srinagar national highway.

While the police managed to recover 4 dead bodies, three of them are still missing. The ill-fated vehicle was on its way from Srinagar to Jammu and the mishap occurred at Panthyal, 150 kms away from Jammu, at around 0630 hours on Tuesday, police said.

All seven persons (identities yet to be ascertained) in the vehicle died on the spot.

Panthyal is a spot where landslides and shooting stones have been occuring for the last eight days resulting in the closure of the highway.
