New Delhi: Eight half-burnt bodies, of alleged thieves who were lynched in Vaishali in Bihar on Wednesday, have been found near a river bank.
The bodies were to be cremated by the state government but officials left the cremation half way.
Villagers of the area raised the alarm on finding the half-burnt bodies. Three magistrates deputed to oversee the cremation have been suspended.
The Vaishali district welfare officer and station head officer have also been suspended, and the District Magistrate and Police Superintendent transferred.
Ten men suspected to be thieves were killed by a group of villagers in Vaishali on September 13.
One man survived to tell the tale. The police have registered a case against 300 unknown people for the murders.
