'84 riots ghost haunts Sajjan Kumar

New Delhi: The CBI’s appeal against the acquittal of Congress leader Sajjan Kumar in the 1984 riots case has been admitted by the Delhi High Court.

There were a number of FIRs filed in writing against Sajjan Kumar, a sitting Congress MLA from the outer Delhi region.

Kumar has been accused of killing one Navin Kumar in November 1, 1984.

The lower court had actually acquitted him involved and others involved in the case on December 23, 2002.

The CBI has in fact filed an appeal in the High Court against his acquittal in 2003. The court has admitted the appeal now.

The hearings will begin from Tuesday on a daily basis. Also one of the accused is sitting MLA Jaikishen.
