85th Academy Awards: 'Lincoln', 'Argo', 'Armour' in the Best Picture race

New Delhi: It was perhaps expected. Steven Spielberg film on former US president Abraham Linocln had to get nominated in the Best Picture category at the 85th Academy Awards.

Spielberg's 'Lincoln' has been nominated along with Ben Aflleck's 'Argo', 'Beasts of Southern Wild', 'Django Unchained', 'Les Misérables', 'Life of Pi', 'Silver Linings Playbook ' and 'Zero Dark Thirty' in Best Picture category.

Steven Speilberg's 'Lincoln' chronicles Abraham Lincoln's final months as he engineers passage of the 13th Amendment abolishing slavery.

While 'Lincoln' led the nomination list, with a total of 12 nominations in this year's Academy Awards, age-old love story Armour garnered for itself 9 nominations.
