Mumbai: A special TADA court hearing the 1993 Mumbai blasts case is scheduled to deliver verdict on the role of eight erstwhile policemen on Tuesday.
The eight accused had allegedly facilitated the passage of a consignment of arms and explosives which was used in the blasts. The designated judge P D Kode has directed them to appear before the court on Tuesday.
Besides sub-inspector Vijay Krishnaji Patil, constables K S Mokal, R D Mali, S Y Pashilkar, K T Pingle, P M Mahadik and M M More and A N Muneshwar, had allegedly allowed the arms and explosives to pass through Ghondgar Phata in Raigad district on January 9 after taking Rs 7 lakh in bribes.
They are booked under Section 120-B and Section 3 (3) of the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act and are presently out on bail.
The court on Monday convicted Mohammed Iqbal Shaikh and Nasim Barmare, close aides of the main accused Tiger Memon for their involvement in the case.
Last week, the court convicted Dawood Mohammed Phanse and Dadabhai Parkar for their role in ensuring that RDX landed on the coast of Raigad in Shekhadi village in the first week of February 1993.
