CAT topper shares success tips

The Common Admission Test or CAT for management institutes is around the bend. CNN-IBN has roped in experts and toppers to advise aspirants on how to attempt the papers. CAT 2004 topper, Devashish Chakravarty, who is presently studying at IIM Ahmedabad and has been through the grind, shares his strategy.

Devashish says:

1) In the CAT paper, you should know what is your primary strength -whether it is Quant, whether it is Data and Logic or whether it is verbal. You should start off with that section which is your strongest section.

Solving the first few easy problems in that section where your ability lies in will give you a lot of confidence. And that confidence will help you go through the rest of the paper much easily, at a lesser level of stress and improve your scores.

2) There are three sub-sections in the paper and you need to give a certain amount of time to each section. What ever be the surprises that the CAT paper throws at you, you should not forget that there is a certain amount of time that you should give time to each section irrespective of whether a particular section is tough or easy.

3) At this point of time, with just a few days to go for CAT, the most important advice I would give is that you should not get too stressed up about CAT because if you are not stressed, you can focus well and that will enable you to perform well.
