Day after quitting BJP, Kalyan meets Mulayam

New Delhi: A day after leaving the BJP, Kalyan Singh has met top Samajwadi Party (SP) leaders Mulayam Singh Yadav and Amar Singh.

The SP has dropped enough hints that Kalyan Singh's son will be given a party ticket to contest the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. Kalyan's son Rajvir may formally join the SP later in the day on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Kalyan himself could contest as an independent with tacit support from Mulayam Singh. He says that he might contest from Etah, but that nothing has been decided yet.

Samajwadi Party leader Mulayam Singh Yadav said, ""We have become friends and there are no conditons in friendship."

On Tuesday, the former Uttar Pradesh chief minister resigned from the primary membership of the BJP. He held the post of the vice-president in the party.

"I have resigned from BJP. I was given a ticket from Etah from BJP. I am returning that ticket to BJP," Kalyan Singh had said.

In a letter to party President Rajnath Singh, the 76-year-old leader - who has been sulking over various issues - said he was feeling "unhappy" but could not compromise by continuing in the party.

Venting his ire against the top leadership of the party, Singh claimed that "those who are at the helm in BJP don't have any public appeal". He blamed the party for ignoring senior leaders.
