A special gym called Brain Gym has been opened in Chennai for mental workout. And Chennai’s professionals and students are flocking it to beat stress, relax and most importantly think better.
The parents have also found a way to help their children to unwind and concentrate through the gym.
"Earlier I couldn't concentrate on anything and I couldn't even sit in one place for five minutes. My mother asked me to go to the Brain Gym. It has helped me interact with more people and I don't feel scared to ask some one whether we can be friends or anything,” says a student, Aaron Jacob Alex.
And are you wondering how many takers does the Gym have?
The Brain Gym center for children itself trains about 1500 students every year and the figures are increasing.
"It's not actually like a fad. It’s already been there at the West. It’s just that we're getting to discover it now,” says trainer, SIP Academy, Dinesh Victor.
And it is not just students or professionals who resort to the Brain Gym for combating everyday stress.
"I am advocate and I have got a lot of stress from my profession so I thought I'd go for Brain Gym,” says an advocate, Swaroopa rani.
Adds Brain Gym trainer, Pushpanathan, "So far we have had 500 people. And we have 300 people from the software side.”
However even a mental workout could have its negatives.
"The only negative thing is that sometimes it doesn't show the effect coming out. But that's more because you don't practice,” says Victor.
And one reason for the people to opt for Brain Gym may be that its exercises are simple and easy to do. But more than anything, most of them seem to be optimistic about the results.
