'A love story set in violent times'

New Delhi: Filmmaker Kunal Kohli's choice for the CNN-IBN's Movie of the Year is the Aamir-Kajol starrer Fanaa.

One of the most controversial films this year, Fanaa not only marked the return of Kajol to the big screen, but also presented Aamir Khan in a completely new role.

Kohli says Fanaa was his attempt to move away from his earlier feel-good romantic films.

"It was a love story set against a violent time. It was a love story of a terrorist. I don't think that too many films in the world cinema have shown the romantic side of a terrorist," says Kohli.

"I didn't take any sides, I didn't say he is a terrorist or a militant, I left it open for the viewer's interpretation," he adds.

So, if you agree with Kohli and want to vote for Fanaa as your favourite film of 2006, logon to ibnlive.com and vote now or choose from any of the eight other nominees for CNN-IBN's Movie of the Year.
