A 'phone' that connects, pays bills, books tickets

New Delhi: First look, and it seems like just another telephone terminal, but look closer and it could be the answer to many of your daily needs. From paying bills to booking your railway tickets to topping your mobile card – a tiny machinery called Indepay is your routine PCO terminal turned into a high end service delivery tool.

So the next time you go to make a call don't be surprised if your STD booth offers you much more.

“We installed this machine so that I could work on several things with just a click of a button,” says Shama Parveen, a Proprieter.

While there are several brands in the offing, the first kid on the block is Indepay. It will use the telecom networks CDMA, GSM & wireless technology to stay connected. Besides the local PCO booth, the company is also targeting employees in the corporate sector.

“Me and my husband works for really late hours. So it makes easier for me to pay my bills, book tickets if I would like to travel,” says another user Kajal Joshi Employee, Gisile.

Even though there are a few problems faced by the customers, the management is determined to sort it out.

“Reaching out to the customer is the best way to address their grievances and that’s what we are doing right now,” said Rajib Saha CEO, Indepay Networks.

From corner shop to corporate houses, the little piece of machinery is making a lot of difference to Indian lifestyle, but behind every successful product, there has to be a successful service backup and that is where Indepay needs to have a look.

If the connectivity problems are resolved, this machine could be the one stop answer to Indian consumer woes.
