Britain: It was the British who broke new ground when they introduced sandwiches to the world cuisine.
Now they have taken this anytime snack to a new level.
Selfridges - a shopping destination that has products ranging from food and furniture to fashion and beauty - has created the world's most expensive sandwich at £85 - nearly Rs 7,000.
The sandwich is made with freshly-baked sour dough and packed with fresh fwaa-graa, black truffle mayonnaise, Spanish peppers and English tomatoes.
However, what makes it so expensive is the Japanese Waag-yu cow's meat used in it.
Waag-yu cows are raised on a diet of beer and grain. They are also regularly massaged with sake - Japanese rice wine.
Till date, 60 sandwiches have been sold.
