Valsad (Gujarat): Six-year-old Muskan Khan and her brother Mobin Shaikh are regular visitors to the police station in Valsad.
Their parents have been missing for more than two years now, and their hopes of finding them are pinned on the police.
"It has been so long since I saw my mother and father. Come back soon,” says Muskaan.
Mobin adds, “I don't enjoy without my parents. If anybody knows where they are, please bring them back.”
Their parents, Gulshan and Hashim Khan went missing under mysterious circumstances. First their mother, Gulshan disappeared, and a few weeks later their father, Hashim. The police are as puzzled as the children about the disappearance of the couple.
"We have lodged a case and several attempts have been made to trace the parents, but without success,” says DSP Valsad, N N Patel.
Muskan and Mobin are now in the care of their grandfather, Abdullah Usman. And Usman believes there is more to the case than meets the eye.
He took my car and parked it in the police station. He has been gone since then. He must have done something,” says Abdullah Usman.
The children believe their search for their parents will be successful one day. But so far all their efforts, including petitions to Prime Manmohan Singh and Congress President Sonia Gandhi have not worked wonders.
