Acknowledging their service, the state government will distribute Onam kits to

migrant labourers.

The kits will be distributed at a

function to be held at Maharaja’s College auditorium on Saturday.

Labour Minister Shibu Baby John will

preside over the function.

It is for the first time the state

government is taking an initiative to make migrant labourers a part of the

festival of the state.

“We should recognise the service of

migrant labourers in the state. They should be considered a part of

Kerala society. The state government has earmarked Rs 10

crore for the welfare of migrant labourers,” the Minister said.

The government is committed to

maintaining a calm and safe atmosphere in Kerala where migrant labourers can

live and work peacefully, Shibu said.
