Mumbai: UTV's sleeper hit A Wednesday has found a new fan and it's none other than Tamil star Kamal Haasan. And the actor let his appreciation for the film be known in a unique way.
It was last year's sleeper hit, a small budget film which drew rave reviews, box office success and awards galore.
Five months later A Wednesday continues to make news, the latest being Tamil star Kamal Haasan's announcement about remaking the film in Tamil and Telugu.
Kamal who was in Mumbai on Thursday for the 'Focus South' session at the ongoing FICCI FRAMES convention confirmed that the remake would star the actor himself in place of Naseeruddin Shah, while Malayalam star Mohanlal would play Anupam Kher's part from the original.
Hassan says, "My friend said it would be nice if I could do the film so I said why not."
The remake is also a milestone of sorts as it marks the coming together of two southern superstars Kamal Haasan and Mohanlal for the first time on the big screen.
"We have been talking about doing a film together for long but i worked on it," quips Hassan.
With Kamal Haasan and Mohanlal in the lead roles, this remake no doubt promises to be a power packed must watch. And we hope unlike most remakes this one manages to have the same impact as the original film.
