New Delhi: A year after former Pakistani Prime Minister and Pakistan Peoples' Party (PPP) leader Benazir Bhutto was assassinated at Rawalpindi in Pakistan, her legacy continues.
Thousands of Pakistanis massed near Bhutto's tomb on Friday, a day ahead of the first anniversary of her killing.
Mourners also gathered in rural southern Pakistan ahead of Saturday's commemoration at the Bhutto family mausoleum in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh to shower flowers on Bhutto's grave and offer prayers.
Meanwhile, the UN is still hoping to set up an independent enquiry panel to probe the killing of the PPP leader.
The world body has been consulting with the Pakistani authorities "to determine the nature of the Commission, the scope of its mandate and the modalities for its establishment."
Bhutto was assassinated on December 27, 2007 in a gun and suicide attack following her address at an election rally in Rawalpindi.
