Mumbai: After a winning streak at the Golden Globe Awards, filmmaker Danny Boyle is back in Mumbai, the city where it all started, the city which is the backdrop for his award winning film Slumdog Millionaire.
Our chief entertainment correspondent Rohit Khilnani got the director talking about his favourite Bollywood star and his next venture that's also set in India.
Rohit Khilani: Joining me is the man who has got all the appreciation, Danny Boyle, director of Slumdog Millionaire. Thank you Danny for giving me time.
Danny Boyle: It's a pleasure. It is very nice be back here.
Rohit Khilani: How is time different because last time you were shooting here. How much of India did you know before this?
Danny Boyle: I knew very little. But I loved the story. And as I began to come here, I loved this city. The maximum city, absolutely I adore.
Rohit Khilani:What was the most difficult part shooting Slumdog Millionaire?
Danny Boyle: The most difficult part was shooting the little kids who were seven year old running beside the train.
Rohit Khilani: Four nominations for the golden globe awards, that's quite and achievement?
Danny Boyle: I don't know if you have seen the footage but the look on our faces, you could tell how excited we were to be there.
Rohit Khilani: Tell me about AR Rahman?
Danny Boyle: He is a very lovely guy. Very inventive, very original. His scores are unique. And I also think it is very mordern
Rohit Khilani: Not possible to keep everyone happy. Some of them are saying that you have shown India in a poor light to the international community. How do you respond to that?
Danny Boyle: I tried to show the many sides of the city as I could to put into the film. I tried to be as honest as I could about the film. It is a story in the end. It is an invention if you like. It's a fantasy in someways. But I also tried to show some realism as well. I don't apolosise for that. I don't expect to please anyone.
Rohit Khilani: A few steps away from the Oscars. What are you expecting from there?
Danny Boyle: You should go into these things expecting nothing. Just having a delight in being in the season.
Rohit Khilani:You are really popular in India, any plans of making a Bollywood film?
Danny Boyle: I would love to make a thriller here.
Rohit Khilani:Which Bollywood stars would you like to work with?
Danny Boyle: I am very impressed with Anil. I would love to work with Anil again. I like your dancer Hrithik Roshan. I think he is extraordinary. I had never seen anybody dance like that since I saw Michael Jackson. Aamir Khan as well, wonderful filmmaker.
