Mumbai: The usually politically correct Aamir Khan on Wednesday made headlines when he said that he would like “to ask SRK how does it feel being number two to me.”

And as SRK took centerstage at the Knight Riders IPL press meet on Thursday, he reacted to Aamir’s statement with his trademark humour in place.

“If I say something my wife will beat me. She is a Aamir fan. But I would like to say that we are friends and if I am number two to Aamir then I am happy because he is a great actor,” Shah Rukh Khan said.

But Shah Rukh being himself couldn't be politically correct for long.

“I don’t want to ask Aamir any question because he will take too much time to answer,” he quipped.

Though, both of them claim to be good friends and keep saying that they “would like to” work with each other, the fact is that it's seriously Khan versus Khan at the box-office.

Out of Shah Rukh's last three releases, two were superthits and Don did average business. Aamir on the other hand has had a hit hattrick at the box office – Taare Zameen Par, Fanaa and Rang De Basanti.

Moreover, while Shah Rukh's home-production Om Shanti Om was sold for Rs 80 crore in 2007; Aamir's next release Ghajini has reportedly sold for a record Rs 90 crore recently.

But Shah Rukh Khan said, “There is no controversy. He (Aamir) understands my humour and I understand his.”

So we say get set for a humorous battle for the top spot between the Khans!
