Mumbai: Pop band ABBA has broken the records as their 16-year-old album makes it to the number one slot on the UK charts.
Swedish pop group ABBA created history on Sunday. Their Album Gold topped UK charts for the fifth time since 1992.
It is also the oldest album to become a chartbuster on UK's countdown list. But the accolades haven’t been hollow. Gold has also raked in the moolah for its creators. Worldwide sales of the album have crossed $26 million, making it one of the forty best-selling albums of all time.
Formed in 1972, ABBA ruled the psychedelic music world of the mid 70’s and early 80's with hits like SOS, Dancing Queen and Mamma Mia!.
The film version of Mama Mia! was a huge hit and its title track topped album charts two weeks ago. (nat up - Mama Mia)
ABBA has not released a new album in over a decade but their songs are still hits, and their fans continue to thank them for the music.
