Mumbai: Out of the 123 accused, actor Sanjay Dutt and the Memons have made headlines, in the 1993 Mumbai blasts verdict. But, there are others with their stories to tell.
Accused number 20, 56-year-old Salim Khan Durrani, is a former businessman. He was arrested after the 1993 blasts and charged with conspiracy, possession of firearms and sheltering the co-accused.
Out on bail for a decade now, Durrani maintains innocence. Judge Kode will be pronounce his fate in the next few days and he can't wait for it.
"I have waited for this day very eagerly and I think the judiciary of India will do me justice," says he.
Durrani's older brothers were in the Army, his great-grandfather was the first Nawab of Tonk and he was selected to as a Rhode Scholar in Advanced History.
With this background, Durrani questions how the police say he has a hand in the blast.
Meanwhile, his family stands firm with him. So confident is Durrani's daughter, Fauzia, of justice, she says there will be no special good-byes when he leaves for the TADA court.
"It's normal. We will say khuda aafiz (good bye), we will pray for him and everything will be normal," says Fauzia.
On his part Durrani feels there's no need to prepare the family for the worst.
Says Durrani, "My family has already passed the worst stage. Now whatever happens we will take it in our stride."
Durrani's tired eyes tell their own story. It's been 13 years for him and guilty or not, he just wants to get it over with now.
