And with that he is expected to rake up a number of old and unsolved scams. But with it there's a fear of back-fire on the party. And that seems to be a cause for concern for many.
VS Achuthanandan is sending a strong message to all the accused big-wigs in various scams and sex scandals.
For the UDF and its partners, the stakes are going to be high. And leading the pack will be Kunhalikutty, ex-industry minister in the AK Antony cabinet.
He had been accused of sexually harassing a minor girl. Kutty had lost the Assembly elections to an independent candidate.
The veteran Marxist is also trying to keep his commitment to women.
He has promised to fight for their dignity. According to him cases of corruption and sex scandals will be dealt with promptly.
Meanwhile, various women's organisations plan to re-open the case against Kunhalikutty.
"I think the case will be reopened, it has to be reopened. It will be taken up by the VS government I think which is coming to Kerala," says a woman activist Ajita.
But the list continues, Achuthanandan’s own party secretary, Pinnarayi Vijayan is under the CBI scanner in connection with the SNC Lavlin case.
By getting into cation even before he becomes the Chief Minister VS Achuthanandan is all set to give the UDF and its partners sleepless nights.
But it now remains to be seen what stand this staunch Marxist will take on the SNC Lavlin case where his own party secretary will come under the scanner.
