Acid attack victim fights back after 43 surgeries to realise her dreams

New Delhi: Monica Singh, a 28-year-old acid attack victim, has lived a heroic battle to leave behind the past and move ahead. About a decade ago, a man threw acid on Monica when she turned down his marriage proposal. Today, 43 surgeries later, she has now got admission to her dream fashion designing institute in New York, but needs $50,000 to fund her fees.

Monica had gotten through to the National Institution of Fashion Technology about a decade ago. But soon after, the unthinkable happened.

But Monica says that's all in the past. She has fashioned a new start for herself. She went back to the place where it all started, rejoined NIFT and is now a proud graduate.

And her thirst for success doesn't end here. This braveheart has now made the cut for the postgraduate course at New York's Parsons New School for Design. But there is something that stands between Monica and her dream.

She needs $ 50,000 to fund her fees. But this optimist simply refuses to give up and has now taken her fight online.
