Activist Aamir invites BJP, Cong ire

CNN-IBN

New Delhi: Bollywood actor Aamir Khan's support to the Narmada Bachao Andolan (NBA) activists has brought the Congress and BJP workers on the same side of the Narmada divide.

While Congress workers stalled the screening of Aamir Khan movie Rang De Basanti in Vadodara, the BJP youth wing workers burnt an effigy of the Bollywood actor in Ahmedabad.

Aamir had met the agitating NBA activists on Friday in the Capital and had spoken out in support of the movement against raising of the height of the Sardar Sarovar Dam across the river Narmada.

Angered by the public display of the support, the agitated political rivals took to streets to express their disapproval.

Congress and BJP youth workers came together to burn posters of Aamir Khan and shouted slogans against him and NBA leader Medha Patkar.

All political parties in Gujarat support the dam and are against NBA for their protests.
