Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh Police on Friday arrested Telugu film actor Rajasekhar for seeking votes in the name of caste.
The actor, who is campaigning for the ruling Congress, was arrested for violating Model Code of Conduct in Srikakulam district in north coastal Andhra, police said.
A case was registered against him at Tekkali police station for seeking votes in the name of caste. He was later released on bail.
Rajasekhar and his wife Jeevitha are campaigning for the party in the region, which goes to polls in the first phase April 16.
The actor couple, during their campaign, have been targeting superstar and Praja Rajyam Party president Chiranjeevi.
Rajasekhar and Jeevitha are among a few film stars roped in by the ruling Congress for its campaign.
