CNN-IBN caught up with actor Shahid Kapur in Goa and posed a few questions to him. Watch how the son of two acclaimed actors fielded all our questions, including the ones on cricket and comparison between the acting styles of his estranged parents.
Here are the excerpts:
CNN-IBN: Hi Shahid, how are you doing?
Shahid Kapur: Fine.
CNN-IBN: You come from a very illustious acting background.
Shahid Kapur: Right
CNN-IBN: So, tell me whose style of acting have you inherited? (Shahid is the son of noted actors Pankaj Kapur and Neelima Azim) Is it your father's or your mother's? And why?
Shahid Kapur: Well I hope it is a little of both. Both of them are wonderful actors in their own right and they have their own way of acting. I hope I have inherited a bit of both.
CNN-IBN: You are a part of Vishal Bharadwaj's Kameenay. Tell us a little about the role and what the film is all about.
Shahid Kapur: Well, it is really early to talk about the film and I would want Vishal to be the first person to talk about the it. All I can say is that it is something very different for me, its something very challenging. I could say for sure that this could be the most challenging role that I have played till date. It is also the most enjoyable film that I have worked on creatively.
CNN-IBN: You are also a part of Paathshala starring Nana Patekar and many kids. Tell me a little about that, how is your character there?
Shahid Kapur: Well, that's something that I have done for personal reasons. I am doing a special appearance although I know I am in that film for about half an hour or forty minutes. Its a special appearance in a children's film, a sweet story about kids and I am playing the role of a teacher.
CNN-IBN: You also went recently for a long shoot in Chandigarh for Yash Raj Films with Rani Mukherjee. It revolves around the cricket background. Are you a cricket fan yourself?
Shahid Kapur: Oh, I love cricket, absolutely. I am a huge cricket buff. In fact, I remember bumping into Sachin inside a hotel lobby and I suddenly turned into this fan. I still remember how when I was in school and he used to be playing, we would all be sitting next to the television and cheering for him. So, I suddenly turned into this 8-year-old when I saw him and froze. So, I am a huge cricket fan and I love cricket.
