Actors ride buffaloes to promote film

New Delhi: Ahead of the release of Charwaha Babu, promoters of the Bhojpuri film are taking people for a ride—on a buffalo.

In what came across as a rather unconventional promotion tool, a Mumbai-based firm Bibha Arts on Wednesday organised a procession where actors of the film rode on buffaloes from the Indian Medical Association office to the historic Gandhi Maidan in Patna.

The film depicts the life of charwahas (cattle grazers) in Bihar and other states of the country, PTI quoted film's director J J Rai as saying. The film has been shot at Sasaram in Bihar and has received a good response.

Rai, a resident of Gazipur in Uttar Pradesh, said the film features small screen actress Akansha Gilani in the role of a teacher.

When questioned if the film was inspired by the life of RJD President and Railway Minister Lalu Prasad, Rai replied in the negative.

"This film has nothing to do with Laluji. It is about sheer grit, hard work and common sense of the charwahas despite their poverty and illiteracy," PTI quoted Gilani as saying.
