Actress Jyothirmayi tries her luck in Kollywood

Jyothirmayi is the latest from Malayalam filmdom to try her luck in Kollywood. An acclaimed actress in Kerala, who has acted with Mammooty, Mohanlal, Jayaram and Biju Menon, says, "my priority is now to establish myself in Tamil film industry".

I don't mind oozing glamour, says Jyothirmayi, who had won critical acclaim for her roles in Kerala.

A quick chat with Jyothirmayi:

How did you enter films?

I was a journalism student. I was interested in modelling. I got an offer to act after a production house saw my advertisement and cast me as heroine in their movie.

On her journey so far in Mollywood?

I have done nearly 12 films in Malayalam. I have acted with the likes of Mammooty, Mohanlal, Jayaram and Biju Menon. Though the number is less, I learnt a lot working in these movies. I learnt professionalism and sincerity working in Mollywood.

On the plethora of Malayalam girls already in Kollywood?

I don't mind about others here. I want to do what is my best. Hope the audience appreciates me if I do well. Being an actress, I have to do what my director demands from me on the screen.

Will you act opposite senior heroes in Tamil?

As I said, an actress should do whatever role she is offered. If requested I will act with senior as well as young heroes in Tamil.

Why you have accepted an item number in Idhaya Thirudan?

It's a big production house (Kavithalaya) and is directed by a popular director like Saran. I hope it would bring me name and fame in Kollywood. I am confident about a good future.
