Chennai: Actress Shriya Saran's wardrobe is the new topic of discussion for Tamil Nadu's legislators, inside the State assembly. Parties like the PMK find her clothes too revealing.
But outside the assembly the actress is getting support from the DMK's rising daughter, Rajya Sabha MP Kanimozhi.
Kanimozhi said, "Women are being exploited through the media in films and serials. We don't talk about it, instead we actually appreciate it. But when one asks questions like this, there's hypocrisy in it and it has to be addressed."
That's the DMK patriarch's daughter coming out to defend south indian actress Shriya Saran, Rajnikanth's heartthrob in the super star's last film Sivaji. Shriya's attire in a particular function became the object of political attention.
The actress was forced to apologize after some Hindu groups protested, and now parties like the PMK find her wardrobe interesting enough to debate in the Tamil Nadu assembly. They find her clothes revealing enough for yet another round of moral policing.
President PMK, Mani said, "Will anyone let his daughter, mother or sister wear such clothes, its anti Tamil."
While this can probably be referred to as a politician's ingredient for a sizzling debate, it's perhaps time they found some serious issues to discuss in the State assembly.
