Sunrise (Florida): With just four days to go on the campaign trail, every last minute counts, and some minutes cost more than others — millions more.
Starting Wednesday night, the Obama campaign out-muscled opponent John McCain's with a 30-minute prime-time political infomercial — including a live hookup from the campaign trail — that simultaneously aired across seven television networks.
The cost for this Obama fest is estimated to be between $ 3.5 million and $ 5 million. Many say that the aim of poaching the prime-time real estate was less about news and more about show of force.
And it seems that while campaign time is finite, Obama's money isn’t.
“We don't need another president who fights for Washington lobbyists and Wall Street,” Obama said addressing the warm-up audience of thousands who’d showed up in Florida for Thursday’s blitzkrieg.
Obama is all set to visit republican states with the days left, riding the economy to the finish line.
And working right in tandem, his campaign is up with a scorching new ad, attacking McCain with 1-2 year old quotes.
After a 20-month campaign, "firsts" are hard to come but Florida saw one with former US president Bill Clinton burying the hatchet and joining hands with the Obama camp.
“I'm going to Orlando for a rally with Senator Obama tonight and we're gonna light it up in Florida,” Clinton said.
