Patna: An FIR was filed on Sunday against former Janata Dal United MLA Munna Shukla on extortion charges. Shukla allegedly demanded Rs 2 crore from a builder for the JDU's Adhikar rally.
Opposition Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad has slammed the ruling party JDU, saying it is using the rally as an 'adhikar' or 'right' to extort money. "This 'adhikar' rally has become a tool for extortion. The people of Bihar are watching this. Even criminals like Munna Shukla and Anant Singh want 'adhikar' to loot," said Lalu.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has organised Adhikar rallies in various parts of the state to mobilise support for his demand for a special status to the state. The rallies, however, have been marred by incidents of violence.
